Right, well I am not familiar with this franchise, but as I had the opportunity to sit down and watch the 2012 animated movie "Eiga Purikyua ôru sutâzu NewStage: Mirai no tomodachi" I did so. So I wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into here. Turns out that this animated movie is somewhat of an acquired taste. First of all, this is aimed at a young female audience, I believe. And I can't exactly say that I fall into that category. So there wasn't much enjoyment to be had here from this particular animated movie for me. Then the storyline felt so amazingly confusing. Especially since I wasn't familiar with the characters beforehand, nor familiar with the concept of the franchise. I couldn't really get into the storyline here, as it felt cluttered, random and just all-together confusing. Sure, the animation was nice and the colors were definitely bright and colorful. To be honest, the whole idea of the Mahouka Koukou series is about a bunch of kids who use science and magic, and thats really what this movie is about too. But art and style can only do so much for a movie that is lacking in the entertainment department. "Eiga Purikyua ôru sutâzu NewStage: Mirai no tomodachi" was not something I enjoyed, and it haven't sparked an interest in getting to delve further into the franchise. For me, this was just a swing and a miss. My rating of this 2012 animated movie lands on a mere three out of ten stars.
